"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you…"
- Set traps for other players (see below for more details). If someone expires in your trap, you gain 300 points! You can also potentially retrieve their drops.
- Complete Quests.
- Hunt for giants, and kill them! Sword-killing a giant earns more points than bow-killing, but is more risky. Other methods such as lava / suffocation do NOT earn any points.
- Simply play for long enough (although note that there is an AFK kicker).
- Die in another player's trap - lose 300 points (the same 300 that they gain).
- Die elsewhere - lose 50 points.
- If you're accredited with sword/bow-killing another player OUTWITH your trap area, you LOSE 150 points, albeit you do of course get to keep any drops they leave scattered around their dead carcass.
- You can set up to 20 traps. They're easy to set - simply select the game menu (using the item in slot 9), stand in the centre of your trap, and set it. If anyone dies within 15 blocks of that spot, you win points!
- You have to build / create your own evil traps. These might involve redstone mechanisms, TNT, lava, anvils, tripwires, dispensers firing arrows, trapped chests, pits filled with mobs, or any other means of bringing about the unfortunate demise of another player's Minecraft character. Let your imagination run wild - build as many traps as you can!
- All traps remain active when you are offline. If a player dies in your trap, you will be notified.
- You can even watch a "replay" of them dying in your trap!!!
- These are packed with tasty items, and are set to drop in random locations at specific times.
- The quality of random goods in the loot chests will make it worth exploring the map when they drop. If you're lucky enough to be near one when it drops you will hear (and possibly see!) fireworks going off to mark its location, so it is worth being on the surface and in a good vantage point, and listening carefully, when they drop!
- There is a countdown in the sidebar/scoreboard showing when the loot chests are next due to drop.
- Admins will occasionally do one-off “extra” chest drops, usually announced in our Discord.
- Loot chests are most likely to spawn near the centre of the map (near to the spawn area) rather than around the perimeter.
- Admins will occasionally spawn giants for you to hunt and kill. This is likely to happen randomly when there are a number of players in game. It might occasionally be pre-announced in Discord and/or on our website.
- If you find another player's trap or base, it is important that you DO NOT let other players know where it is. Be discreet. Don't post photos / video of other peoples' traps, don't mention the location of the trap in chat, etc.
- There are NO protected claims. Players can steal things from one anothers' bases. This means you will need to either hide your stuff, presumably surrounding it in traps, or carry it, or stash it in an Ender Chest.
- This means there will genuinely be “good stuff” in other players’ chests to raid. Players’ bases will likely have secret passageways, tripwires, etc. The players who die will likely drop some decent goodies.
- Players are likely to go to a fair bit of effort constructing their bases, and their traps. Whilst stealing from other players' chests etc is positively encouraged, you are NOT allowed to wholesale destroy other players’ traps and builds. Minor damage is permissable, e.g. breaking a couple of blocks to gain safe access to a room, or mining a passageway to try to find a hidden space, but WHOLESALE GRIEFING OF BUILDS AND TRAPS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Any such behaviour will be undone by mods, and is likely to earn you a temporary or permanent ban from the server, and/or you could have karma points removed.
- To be clear, players should expect to have their base(s) raided, and to raid other bases. In doing so, it is entirely reasonable to destroy several blocks of another player’s base in an effort to find tasty loot!
- You are allowed to gently disable redstone mechanisms, or to attempt to escape a trap - however you must only do the MINIMUM of tampering with other players’ redstone devices. Try to leave them more or less intact.
- Once you’ve finished stealing stuff, then before you leave (hopefully with your pockets full!), you should try so far as practicable to politely rebuild the blocks you removed around their base.
- If you're caught in the act - then just RUN AWAY! You don't want to be killed within another player's trap zone!
- We advise checking on your traps every now and then. Be prepared to regularly reset and maintain them.
- Whilst the map is likely to be mined extensively for resources, we will NOT tolerate toxic wholesale destruction. Any such behaviour will be undone by mods, and is likely to earn you a permanent ban from the server.
- Spawn-killing, or deliberately killing the same player repeatedly, is NOT allowed.
- We DO want you to set devious traps to kill other players, but any behaviour that could be perceived as toxic, bullying, or not in the spirit of good sportsmanship, is definitely not allowed.
- Rulebreaking is likely to earn you either a warning, and/or a ban, and/or removal of karma points, and/or exclusion from the Traps Game or other areas of our server.
- We can’t wait to see your most ingenious traps in action!
- If someone dies in your trap in a particularly noteworthy fashion, you are entitled to enter it for a “Best Death Award”. As well as the points already awarded in-game, you could possibly win further prizes (e.g. Bashy Coins, and/or special in-game items). These are awarded to the Best Deaths at the sole discretion of Admins.
- To enter, send us the Replay ID of the death as soon as possible after the Death took place, and/or send us an edited video file, and/or send us a link to your own Youtube video. You can do this via either email, or a Discord DM to RadiatorFace.
- We’re looking forward to watching your opponents suffer!
- Incidentally - any hilarious or otherwise compelling videos you have to submit (for any game mode) would be great as well - and can potentially earn you Bashy Coins! :)
- Toward the close of the game, if you have any surviving builds or bases that you're proud of, or if you had the perfect impregnable Super-Villain evil lair, or a particularly ingenious trap, please send us the location via either email, or a Discord DM to RadiatorFace. Make it clear that you're entering it for a "Best Build" prize (likely to consist of Bashy Coins). Prizes to be awarded at the sole discretion of an Admin.
- We've set a few special measures to prevent point manipulation by players' friends joining for no reason other than to "donate" their death-points to a friend. Any such attempts at point manipulation are likely to earn you either a temporary or permanent ban, and/or loss of karma points.
- There is a world border, to contain players within a reasonably tight area - whilst still allowing enough space to explore, hide from one another, set traps, and gather resources.
